This two volume set by David Gilmore Wright is an extremely thorough documentation on the life and work of Peter Moran, a prominent member of the famous Moran family of artists. Peter Moran founded the Philadelphia Society of Etchers and served as its President for its twenty-three years of active existence. He also was a founder of the Philadelphia Art Club and a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club and Artists Fund Society. Called by many “the Father of American Etchers,” Peter Moran was also a phenomenal painter and educator. His works include depictions of domestic and wild animals and scenes of the indigenous peoples of the American Southwest.
