Spanierman Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Maine: An Artist’s Retreat on May 12, 2011, an exhibition and sale featuring images of the state dating from the late nineteenth century to the present that demonstrate how Maine’s exquisite and refreshing scenery has drawn artists working in a diverse range of styles over the course of many generations.  Among the artists represented are Will Barnet, George Bellows, John Steuart Curry, Abbott Fuller Graves, Alan Gussow, Marsden Hartley, Robert Henri, William Morris Hunt, Raymond Jonson, Alex Katz, John Marin, Stephen Pace, Betty Parsons, Fairfield Porter, Edward Potthast, Neil Welliver, Andrew Wyeth, Jamie Wyeth, William and Marguerite Zorach.
