Abraham Bogdanove (1886-1946): The Lure of Maine, is an exhibition of work by the landscape painter, portraitist, muralist, and art teacher, who is best known for his dynamic images of Monhegan Island, Maine. That Bogdanove was “one of the most rapid and industrious of painters, as well as one of the most vital” accounts for the many seascapes that he created, each different in conception and execution, but he also painted other subjects on Monhegan, including fishing huts, boats in the harbor, a number of inland landscapes, as well as several images of the buildings and houses on the island’s Horn’s Hill, where his own home was located.
